History

Kontinex Staal BV

Development of Kontinex Staal B.V. into what we stand for today.

» Establishment

Kontinex Staal BV was established in 1975, its aim was trading in cold-formed steel profiles, and also their manufacture.

Up until 1978 the company was only involved in trading, but then a start was made in manufacture. The first production machinery, in Zwijndrecht, allowed us to process steel coil into up to 500mm x 4mm U and L profiles.

Soon after this we were able to add C profiles to the range. In the early years our main customers were in the greenhouse construction industry; in the late 1980s we also started supplying to motor body works and the construction industry. This meant we had to invest in a second production machine. This second machine was able to process coil up to 6mm to produce standard profiles and simple special profiles.

» New machines and expansion

It didn't take long before requests came in for perforated profiles with more diverse forms (for example for storage systems). These developments required new machinery and a first coil slitter. To accommodate the new slitter we opened our first factory hall in Moerdijk. Up until late 1995 Kontinex Staal had 8 profiling machines and 1 slitter.

In 1996 we took over the profiling department, containing 5 machines, of Thomas Regout in Maastricht. This meant we were able to produce a greater range of profiles in more complex forms and in particular fine-gauge profiles.

With Pocometal B.V., taken over in 2007, we can deliver steel plates and smaller slitted strip.

» KS Profiel

In order to distinguish Kontinex Staal as a cold-formed profile production company it was decided to let it be known by the name KS Profile.

Kontinex Staal B.V. currently owns 2 coil-slitters, 16 profiling machines for the manufacturing of standard and special profiles, either perforated or non-perforated as required, and 1 decoiler-line.
