1975
From trading to manufacturing
Piet Noordzij starts Kontinex Staal in Zwijndrecht as a trading company in steel profiles. Customer demands quickly become more specific. In 1978, he acquires his own profiling line. This marks the beginning of what grows into one of the most specialized profile manufacturers in Europe.
1985
Our own tooling workshop
KS starts making its own tooling for the profiling lines. Every customer gets their own custom set. A decision that still shapes how we work today: project-based custom work with full control over the process, from start to finish.
1995
Scaling up in Moerdijk
Demand for more complex profiles grows. KS builds a new factory in Moerdijk with modern machinery and invests in its own slitting line. By the end of 1995, eight profiling lines are running and nearly 70 people are working there.
2000
International customers
KS's ambitions cross the border. The first deliveries go to the Benelux and Germany. Customers recognize the added value and quality of this fine Dutch product. It's the start of international orders that eventually come from all over the world.
2009
Leendert joins, start of R&D
Founder Piet Noordzij shares leadership with his son Leendert. KS now has 90 employees and generates half of its revenue from abroad. The Research & Development department is launched: innovation becomes a permanent part of how KS works.
2015
Our own roll forming lines
Our knowledge has grown to the point where KS decides to design and build the next roll forming line itself, including the control software. Maintenance is handled entirely in-house. What others buy in, we make ourselves.
2016
KS Foundation
KS Profiel stelt 10% van de jaarwinst beschikbaar aan de KS Foundation, opgericht om via projecten kansarmen een financieel zelfstandig bestaan te helpen opbouwen. Eerder had oprichter Piet Noordzij al een zelfstandige profileerfabriek in Ethiopië opgezet. Ondernemen met een geweten.
2019
Higher, wider, bigger
A new roll forming line makes it possible to produce profiles up to 1000 mm wide and 8 mm thick. This allows KS to serve taller structures and wider spans in warehousing, solar, and construction.
2019
Sustainability as a priority
Sustainable working and production become a key part of the company philosophy and strategy. 3,100 solar panels are installed on the roof at Apolloweg. A first step toward fully greening energy consumption, and later, a CO2 reduction of more than 90%.
2020
KS Industries: specializing in professionally driven businesses
KS is split into a group of specialized companies under parent company KS Industries. KS Profile focuses entirely on the project-based production of custom steel profiles. More focus, more depth, better service for every customer.
Mission
We develop and produce customer-specific, cold-formed steel profiles for project-based building systems. We do this efficiently, with tight tolerances and an eye for application, ease of assembly, and sustainability. Not as a distant supplier, but as a partner who understands what's at stake.
Vision
We will become the market leader in customer-specific profiles for project-based building systems, with sustainability at their core. The specialist that engineers and buyers rely on when there's no room for error. Not the biggest, but the most reliable.
